The Tanglewood 2016 season schedule was announced late last November, with tickets going on sale soon, at the end of the month: January 24th, 2016 at 10am.

Tanglewood Festival always brings together an amazing collection of performers and performances and Tanglewood 2016 Season looks to be no exception, with a stellar lineup that includes such luminaries as Joshua Bell, Seth McFarlane, Yuja Wang, Chick Corea, Yo-Yo Ma, Garrison Keillor, and NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!

Tickets for the Tanglewood 2016 season tend to go quickly, especially for the higher-profile performers and more unusual performances, so getting yours early is key.

Below is a short list of just a few of the highlights to whet your appetite for the upcoming Tanglewood 2016 season.

June 25 – Garrison Keillor and A Prairie Home Companion
Garrison Keillor returns to the Tanglewood stage with his beloved Prairie Home Companion – rumors are it is for the last time, so these tickets will likely sell very, very quickly.

July 1 – Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration
Renowned guitarist Warren Haynes returns to Tanglewood with an orchestral set of some of Jerry Garcia’s masterworks, accompanied by the Boston Pops as conducted by Keith Lockhart.

July 3 & 4 – James Taylor and His All-Star Band
It wouldn’t be Tanglewood season without James Taylor. A fireworks display will follow the July 4 concert in honor of the holiday.

July 8 – Jacques Lacombe conducts Ravel, Saint-Saëns, and Prokofiev featuring Joshua Bell
Opening Night at Tanglewood will feature Jacques Lacombe conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra with Joshua Bell on violin, presenting Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso, Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3, and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5.

July 10 – Boston Pops Orchestra with special guest Seth MacFarlane
Come hear the Boston Pops Orchestra, conducted by Keith Lockhart, perform a swinging set from the Great American Songbook with the rich and infectious baritone of very special guest Seth MacFarlane – who knew?

July 17 – Gustavo Gimeno conducts Prokofiev, Ravel, Gershwin, and Stravinsky featuring Yuja Wang
Superstar pianist and guest performer Yuja Wang joins the stage with the BSO as conducted by Gustavo Gimeno for Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and the 1919 version of Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird.

July 31 – Chick Corea Trio featuring Christian McBride and Brian Blade
75th Birthday Celebration of American jazz and fusion pianist and composer, Chick Corea, celebrated in Tanglewood’s Seiji Ozawa Hall his trio, featuring Christian McBride and Brian Blade.

August 26 – “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
The Boston Pops, Keith Lockhart conducting, present John Williams’ epic score for a screening of the classic adventure film “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” featuring Harrison Ford as a swashbuckling archaeologist battling natives, Nazis, and the supernatural.
