Hailed by The New York Times as “the dance center of the nation” the annual Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, started by modern dance pioneer Ted Shawn in the 1930’s, is America’s longest-running dance festival and a national treasure.

Held each year in the beautiful Western Massachusetts Berkshires at Jacob’s Pillow Farm, a designated National Historic Landmark and recipient of the National Medal of Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival is a treasure-trove dance performances, talks, tours, exhibits, workshops, and so much more.

Starting next month, June 13th and running through the summer until August 29th, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival packs each month full 0f must-see performances. Below are some details for the June performances scheduled for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival:

Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host – June 13th and 14th at the Ted Shawn Theatre

The host of National Public Radio’s popular “This American Life,” Ira Glass, is joined onstage by “the Tina Fey of dance” Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass in a lively, authentic, funny, and emotional mix of movement and storytelling that’s a must-see for any dance or Ira Glass fan!

Ballet BC – June 24th through the 28th at the Ted Shawn Theatre
Artistic Director Emily Molnar and the dynamic dancers of Ballet BC from Vancouver, Canada combine classical ballet training with inventive contemporary dance to invigorate audiences and the ballet world! Expect intricate and breathtaking dance from their performances of the workwithinwork by William Forsythe, Cayetano Soto’s exhilarating Twenty Eight Thousand Waves, and the U.S. premiere of Gustavo Ramírez Sansano’s Rite of Spring.

New York Theatre Ballet in Cinderella – June 24th through the 28th at the Doris Duke Theatre
You know the timeless story, now come see it flawlessly performed in ballet by the outstanding dancers of New York Theatre Ballet. The winning choreography by Donald Mahler, music of Sergei Prokofiev, and the beloved story and characters make this a delight for the entire family.
