It’s a case of life imitating art during the Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas weekend, December 4th through the 6th, 2015. The 26th annual celebration of Norman Rockwell’s famous painting sees Stockbridge recreating that 1950’s, Berkshires village, holiday street scene to a ‘t’!
Stockbridge, MA is already a quaint and quintessentially New England town to begin with but, once they decorate it for the annual Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas weekend … well, with vintage cars parked and store windows decorated to match Rockwell’s iconic work, you will feel as if you’re stepping back in time, right into a living painting!
Norman Rockwell loved the Berkshires and spent his last years in Stockbridge, drawing inspiration from the town’s New England ambiance for many of his later paintings. Most notably, his “Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas” work, which he worked on between 1956 and 1967.
The annual Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas event celebrates this iconic and popular Norman Rockwell tableau, recreating it with ease because Stockbridge has changed so little over the years. The iconic Berkshires village really shines during the Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas celebration
