Our largest room, the Thomas Hurlbut Suite, is named for the pioneering papermaker who built The Federal House for his family in 1824. This elegant room features a mahogany four-poster, rice pattern bed with a hand tied canopy. With its pleasant and spacious sitting area, you can easily lose yourself while relaxing in front of the warmth of the crackling gas fireplace in either the wing back chair or the beautiful antique fainting couch. The large windows provide lovely views of the front lawn with its stately pines and majestic copper beech trees.
